R. Kelly, we hardly knew ye

I really have to thank Mr. Ben Clark for inspiring this post - also for inspiring me to grow a beard, which I hear takes longer than posting on a blog?

Today is a day for R. Kelly covers. Before you roll your eyes and go read Pitchfork, bare with me. This shit is beautiful. I think R. Kelly exists in two separate universes: 1. the universe in which sexually abusing minors and writing songs about it is just business, and 2. the universe in which he actually writes beautiful songs just waiting to be covered by folk musicians.
If you don't think R. Kelly's music is mysteriously good for a man so troubled, just do a quick youtube search for "R. Kelly cover" and I will show you 1670 reasons why everyone else disagrees with you!

Part I: Tom Krell returns as How To Dress Well, covering R. Kelly's "I Wish"

HOW TO DRESS WELL "WAKING UP TO LIFE SOMETIMES SEEMS WORSE" from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

The clip is called "Waking Up To Life Sometimes Seems Worse". Please please go to his bliggyblog and show him some love or at least get your hands on his EP Love Remains.

Part II. Sam Amidon covers "Relief" from his album I See The Sign

Part III. Bonnie "Prince" Billy covers "The Worlds Greatest" from the album Ask Forgiveness
Note: I would apologize for the choice of video, but every time I'm about to I get distracted by the poster's use of pork product to make literal the lyrics "i ham a marching band, i ham the people".... .....
