Atlas Sound is the solo project of Bradford Cox, lead singer and guitarist of Deerhunter. Cox was born in Athens, Georgia with a medical condition called Marfan syndrome which affected his appearance and caused him to drop out of high school and have difficulty making friends. Around that time his parents divorced and let him live in his suburban home by himself. Cox began exploring stream-of-consciousness music making and layering techniques on an old casette recorder and to date still records much of his music without writing the lyrics in advance.
