Whachu know 'bout Rolling Blackouts?

The Go! Team - T.O.R.N.A.D.O by memphisindustries

Brighton, England based, The Go Team! started as a solo project by Ian Parton (the 2004 premiere album Thunder, Lightning, Strike was recorded in his parents' kitchen) and has since expanded to include Ninja (seriously fierce and appropriately described "double-dutch vocalist" re:PMA), Kaori Tsuchida, Jamie Bell, Sam Dook, Chi Fukami Taylor. Recorded over the last two years, their third album Rolling Blackouts is set to drop January 2011. I wouldn't normally source the dreaded Pitchfork but the interview with Parton is actually pretty sweet. Parton describes Rolling Blackouts, which samples a live 20 piece brass band and an African gospel choir and features a bunch of guest singers like Satomi Matsuzaki from Deerhoof and Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast, as "technicolor, slightly woozy hip-hop."

The album is on the British label Memphis Industries - also home to Field Music, El Perro del Mar, Le Loup, The Pipettes, The Russian Futurists, the Shaky Hands, Tokyo Police Club, etc. etc. etc.

Bring it, Go Team!
